How can technology help humans better understand nature? What is the relationship between scientific knowledge and aesthetic experience? Go stargazing with

The Seattle Astronomical Society, an independent, non-profit group of stargazers. Due to the need for a dark night sky, many of these meetings are outside the city in Seattle. I’ve listed some more proximate events below, but students may want to check the calendar for further-afield events. Check their calendar for additional opportunities.

Consider how optical technologies such as the telescope contribute both to human knowledge and to individual experience, as well as the changing meaning of the stars over time.

For 25 points, send a photo of yourself at the event and write a 200-ish word response describing your experience.
