Burke Museum: Culture is Living

How are culture and technology interwoven? Visit the “Culture is Living” exhibit at the Burke Museum, which focuses on North American Indigenous (mostly Northwest) arts, culture, and technology. The museum exhibit also reflects on the disrupting effects of colonization on Indigenous knowledge systems, and shows how Indigenous people’s techniques and technologies have resisted, adapted, and persisted through time.
For 15 extra credit points, take a selfie at the museum and write about 200 words reflecting on one or more objects you encountered in relation to something you have learned from the course. You may consider forms of material production, transportation, communication, or techniques for the transmission of historical memory.
